Cache
Blender's rigid body cache is a system that stores simulation data for rigid body physics animations.
- It saves the calculated physics simulation data to memory or disk, allowing you to playback the animation without recalculating the physics each time.
- It offers two main types of caching:
- Scene Memory Cache: Temporarily stores simulation data in RAM.
- Disk Cache: Saves the simulation data permanently to your hard drive.

RBC Cache Menu: Menu to manage saved Cache.
- Scene Cache Dropdown - Drop down list where you can select different cache index
- Cache Name: Name of Cache.
- Add Cache : Adds a new Cache to Disk.
- Delete Cache : Deletes current Cache.
Note: Scene memory cannot be deleted.
-
Record Cache - A button to start/stop recording the animation cache with a progress indicator showing frames recorded.
-
Delete Current Cache: A button next to ‘Record Cache’ to delete current cache index
-
Pre-Bake Frame: This button allows you to bake the set number of frames before the First frame.(Helpful for preloading the vehicles Suspension). Can only be set if cache isn’t already baked.
-
Bake Cache to Keyframes - Converts the recorded cache data into permanent keyframes in the animation timeline.
- Select All Rigs: Bakes all cached rigs to keyframes.
Keyframe
In Keyframe mode you can record keyframes to your rig while run the simulation.
